On Interni the last project designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, Arassociati and AG&P Greenscape for the area of San Cristoforo reinventing the Vertical Forest model in a courtyard building, typical of the Milanese architectural culture.

Green Courtyard is a residential building which integrates sustainable solutions as the vegetal elements system that distinguish the external facade with an alternated balconies system and the presence of high energy performance photovoltaic panels that are positioned on the ascending roof.

The project is placed in the center of the so-called Quartiere della Creatività (Creativity District) in the south western area of Milan. It aims to interpret the identity of this place that is in between past and future, memory and innovation, proposing a typical Milanese typology in a daring volumetry with contemporaneous technologies.

The milanese area that is defined by the ring road of the city, the Naviglio Grande and the former Richard Ginori factory is going to be the theatre of an incredible transformation in the upcoming years due mainly to three important projects that are going to requalify it completely.

One of these is Corte Verde (Green Court) realized by Stefano Boeri with Arassociati and Ag&P Greenscape. The project has been presented in a public meeting open to citizens and associations where Stefano Boeri has defined it as a “tribute to Milan, to urban forestry and to the water system that crosses our territory” while counselor Pierfrancesco Maran has underlined that this intervention connects the whole area to the water net of the Navigli system in its northern part and to the agricultural tissue of the Parco Sud (South Park) it represents a natural urban conjunction of.

The regeneration of this part of the city is entrusted to the realization of two more projects: Navigli Urban Village by Cino Zucchi in via Pestalozzi and an intervention in via Schievano, near Iulm university, by Progetto CMR whose developper is Beni Stabili.

An article published on Area report about the news of the competition won by Stefano Boeri Architetti, Arassociati Studio di Architettura and AG&P Greenscape for a new courtyard building which conjugate the Vertical Forest model in a typology that is strongly linked to Milan.
“The architectural and urban vision of the intervention announces a developing scenario in this area of the city, exalting its identity in between past and future, memory and innovation”.

Corte Verde is a seven stories courtyard building – mainly residential – which establish a strong continuity between the area of Tortona and the are of Naviglio Grande, thanks also to the recent developments of the infrastructural system, to the dismissal of the commercial nodes and to the improvement of the public spaces.

Corte Verde (Green Court) is the new project signed by Stefano Boeri for Milan. It is a court building with a rising eight in the north façade that faces Piazza Napoli (Napoli Square) and a lower height for the southern façade that faces the Naviglio and San Cristoforo Bridge.

Located in an area near the Naviglio Grande and its bright night and day life but actually living in the impossibility of benefiting by it because physically separated by one of the main ring roads of the city, it is one of the first projects that are part of the big plan of conversion of the rail yards of Milan, in this particular case the projects revolves around the railway station of San Cristoforo.

The project engages a deep dialogue with nature: bushes and trees live in the balconies of the building and a public park is conceived to connect the area to the Navigli where the Municipality of Milan has already a plan to convert the railway yards of Porta Romana and San Cristoforo into a linear park.
The realization of the park implies the decontamination of the concerned areas that are polluted at present with the preservation of the existing vegetation and the planting of more trees in continuity with Urban Forestry project.

This new intervention contributes to the target of realizing a big «Quartiere della Creatività» (Creativity District) and design district that from Tortona/Savona goes to Iulm University through the area of San Cristoforo also thanks to the realization of the M4 line of the milanese underground as Pierfrancesco Maran, city councilor responsible for town planning.

Corte Verde is part of a number of projects that have the shared target to implement Zona 6 (area 6) of the Municipality of Milan; a new «Urban Village Navigli» by architect Cino Zucchi is going to be realized in Pestalozzi street, near the area of San Cristoforo. This project is made up of five buildings with a total amount of 120 co-housing apartments.
