On Abitare, an interview with Stefano Boeri talks about the architect’s pop vision and focuses on the projects of the studio, including the Vertical Forest in Milan, the Trudo Vertical Forest in Eindhoven, the Villa Méditerranée in Marseille, the Polcevera park in Genoa.
“First of all, the pop character is reflected in the fact that, in my work, I like to make references to popular culture. More generally, I believe that architecture must always pursue a clear concept, without being excessively charged with meaning. In fact, many projects which I have worked on could be summarized in a single theme. In the Villa Méditerranée in Marseille, for example, the theme of opening the building to the Mediterranean was interpreted almost in a literal way. For the Polcevera park in Genoa, on the other hand, the mending of disconnected areas took the form of a large ring. A part of the pop character perhaps comes from my political experience, where immediacy in communicating an idea is fundamental”, explains Stefano Boeri.
