Highlights Travel Matters 2 | Stefano Boeri and Daniel Wu

Travel Matters 2
Stefano Boeri and Daniel Wu

Stefano Boeri takes part in the “Milan” episode of Travel Matters (Season 2), joining actor and architect Daniel Wu (Wu Yanzu) for a conversation set within Bosco Verticale. Alongside Stefano Boeri, the episode also features Ines Bovone, Partner at Coima Image, and architect Gio Pagani, who present the interior design choices developed in accordance with the building’s architectural philosophy.

Since its completion in 2014, Bosco Verticale in Milan (Boeri Studio) has become the prototype of a new architectural typology, which has evolved into multiple declinations worldwide across different climatic and social contexts. These include Trudo Vertical Forest (Netherlands, 2021), Huanggang Vertical Forest (Huanggang, 2021), and Wonderwoods Vertical Forest (Utrecht, 2025).

During the episode, Stefano Boeri (from minute 18:46 onward) reflects on the origins of Bosco Verticale as an experimental prototype for integrating living nature into high-density cities, addressing architecture’s responsibility in responding to environmental challenges. The conversation expands to broader questions concerning the relationship between humans and nature, sustainable urban models, and the evolving role of architecture in shaping future cities.

The discussion also extends to the current situation in China, where Stefano Boeri examines contemporary urban challenges and the potential for ecological development, drawing on ongoing international research and design experiences.

Travel Matters Season 2 is an S-level road culture documentary jointly produced by Tencent News and Insight Studios. Following the first season’s journey across the Balkan Peninsula, the new season unfolds under the theme “All Roads Lead to Rome.” The series traces a journey through Italy—from Genoa and Milan to Tuscany and Rome—using travel, architecture, and dialogue as tools to explore the movement of cultures, landscapes, and ideas.
