On Thursday, January 22 at 6:30 PM, Stefano Boeri takes part in a talk at Fondazione Bisazza. The event offers an opportunity to explore themes of contemporary architecture and urban transformation in relation to today’s environmental challenges. At the heart of his talk will be the role of vegetation as an essential element of urban space and as a key tool for addressing the climate crisis and improving quality of life in cities.
From the event description:
Milan-based architect Stefano Boeri, whose work ranges from urban visions to design, will speak about the essential role of urban vegetation as one of the key elements in tackling the climate crisis. The creator of Bosco Verticale, the Milanese residential complex that integrates living nature and the city, Boeri considers this building a starting point for rethinking global urban life. The challenge for design and architecture is therefore to imagine new ways of inhabiting the cities of the future, with greater integration with the environment and reduced resource consumption.
“Welcoming living nature into the urban environment is not an easy task, but it is a challenge that must be embraced. Urban forestry is therefore not an option, but the most effective, economical, and inclusive choice for countering both the effects and the root causes of climate change,” says Stefano Boeri.
Admission is free, with mandatory registration, subject to availability.
The conference can also be followed via live streaming on the Fondazione Bisazza YouTube channel.
