On the 23 and 24 of May, as part of the XI edition of Open House Milano — the event that each year allows visitors to discover for free hundreds of architecturally significant places normally not open to the public — the new Sforza Pavilion of the Policlinico di Milano is opening its doors, designed by Boeri Studio (S. Boeri, G. Barreca, G. La Varra).
During the opening, visitors will be able to tour several already-furnished wards as well as the covered square with its commercial gallery, currently in the final stages of completion.
The Sforza Pavilion is the largest architectural and healthcare project in the centre of Milan, built without ever interrupting a single day of medical activities. A technologically advanced, cutting-edge building constructed according to the most innovative sustainability standards, it will increase the city’s green spaces thanks to an elevated therapeutic garden of over 7,000 sq m. Among the main Urban Forestry initiatives planned for Milan, the Policlinico’s rooftop is enhanced by the added value of the chromotherapeutic potential of its landscape.
At 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, two presentation sessions are scheduled, during which the President of the Policlinico di Milano, architect Marco Giachetti, will explain the project — meeting point in the covered commercial gallery.
Free admission from Via Francesco Sforza 35 (near the magnolia tree, behind the Sacco Pavilion).
