progetto definitivo memoriale morandi

An article by Annamaria Coluccia in Il Secolo XIX focuses on the city council’s approval of the executive project for the first lot (on the south side) of the garden that will surround the buildings of the Memorial dedicated to the victims of the Morandi Bridge, designed by the temporary grouping led by Stefano Boeri Architetti.

This first lot, covering 2,480 square metres, will be a green space connecting the play centre and the Memorial and Greenhouse complex.
There will be 41 tall trees of different species: hornbeams, ash trees, holm oaks and a row of about 20 plane trees, as well as many shrubs and plants of various species.
The building, which is being constructed in the space of the former shed where the debris from the Morandi bridge was deposited for a long time, will house the Memorial Museum and the House of the Families, reserved for the relatives of the victims.

The Memorial represents the first nucleus of the Polcevera Park, conceived by Stefano Boeri Architetti, in collaboration with Metrogramma, Inside Outside and Studio Laura Gatti, which aims at the reconstruction, from an architectural and urban but above all social point of view, of an extremely varied territory: a quality rebirth in terms of forms and services, conceived above all for the people who live and work there, after the tragedy of the 14th of August 2018.
