the new milanese architecture

February 26th, 2018

Since the last Expo, Milan is investing a lot in new architectural projects, involving some of the most internationally renowned architects to confirm its international position. So, from Piazza Gae Aulenti to City Life, many new buildings and towers continue growing, representing the dynamic and contemporaneous aptitude of the city.

«Verticality is part of the tradition of this city. From Filarete Tower of Castello Sforzesco to the ones designed by Giò Ponti close to Giardini Pubblici and Triennale, there is an important story that leads to this transformation», comments Stefano Boeri who as the author of Vertical Forest  contributed to the unique appearance of milanese skyline.

Important buildings are rising in the city, in former degrade areas. Milan managed to involve architects as Daniel Libeskind, Rem Koolhaas, Sanaa, Zaha Hadid Architects, Peter Eisenman, but also italians as Mario Cucinella and Michele De Lucchi. Today the city created a direct dialogue with its new buildings, that became symbol of effort and rebirth, a perfect example in Italy.
