Intervista a Stefano. Boeri su Il Tirreno

Il Tirreno published an interview with Stefano Boeri by Ilenia Reali focusing on solutions to react to climate change.

The article focuses on the area of Tuscany, looking at some of Stefano Boeri Architetti’s projects in this region (such as the Cavaniglia Pavilion in the Fortezza da Basso or the Valdinievole Masterplan) and not only – the project for Cagliari’s seafront, which includes the redevelopment of the Via Roma promenade, an intervention on the port front and the redevelopment of Piazza Matteotti, is also presented.

“We must work on the root causes of climate change of which cities are the first victims. First of all on the lowering of carbon dioxide emissions: there are a number of actions that need to be done, the most effective, the cheapest and the most inclusive is definitely to plant more trees. Trees, plants, greenery are able to absorb the carbon dioxide we have already produced and release oxygen. They have a fundamental function that we have not yet been able to replicate. But there is more: greenery absorbs air pollution, retains rainwater, promotes biodiversity and also has a beneficial function in terms of our health. The quality of life in a city where greenery is present improves and the positive effects are indisputable,” says Stefano Boeri.
