Il Gazzettino, Conegliano edition, published an interview by Matteo Negro with Stefano Boeri in which the Green Village project, conceived by Stefano Boeri Architetti for the recovery and reconversion of the former Zanussi area in Conegliano, and presented on September 19th in Pistoia, is discussed.
The article focuses on ‘discussion tables’, a proposal to enrich and discuss the project, with a view to improvement and openness to the community.
The redevelopment project of the former Zanussi area is a strategic vision, which outlines for Conegliano a neighbourhood characterised by a high quality of living, linked to a new meaning of historical village, to the possibility of living in the green while having a relationship of proximity with the city and the surrounding area, thanks to its proximity to the railway system, and its commercial and entertainment centres.
“What we do is to produce an idea that strikes the right balance between the needs of the population, the directions of politics and the interests of private individuals. It is not easy, but it is important. Our working method is to submit to participation not an abstract question (‘what do we do?’), but a first solution, a starting hypothesis. We have to find a balance and the result has to be questioned. Beware: I do not believe in participation where technicians take away responsibility, but rather are called upon to work to avoid an excess of generality,’ says Stefano Boeri.
