lungomare Otranto in edicola del sud

L’Edicola del Sud publishes an article by Antonio Nicola Pezzuto presenting the project by Stefano Boeri Architetti, together with the professionals Luigi Gallo, Sergio Saracino, Doris Assunta Ria, Seti Engineering srl, and Studio Silva srl, for the new waterfront of Otranto.

The consortium won the tender for the urban regeneration of Via Riviera degli Haethey in Otranto. The entire program was launched by the Minister for the South and Territorial Cohesion as part of the “Cis Brindisi-Lecce-Costa Adriatica,” which aims to redevelop and revitalize the Salento Adriatic coast.

The project includes stabilizing the cliff and restoring the entire coastal strip—currently occupied by parked cars—by creating a continuous panoramic promenade designed to enhance the coastal landscape and improve public access. The route will extend from the small square of Madonna dell’Altomare to the Scoglio del Picciurillo, then passing the old Customs House and the Customs Officers’ House, the Spanish Fort, and the White Lighthouse, and ending at Porto Craulo. A sequence of historic sites and sea views will finally be connected by a unified axis, giving the city a waterfront worthy of its extraordinary identity and capable of integrating history, nature, and livability.

The news has also been covered by Giornale di Puglia, Il Quotidiano di Puglia, La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, L’Edicola.
