From June 9 to 11, the World Congress on Greening Buildings 2026 takes place in Berlin, an event dedicated to all aspects of green building (greening of roofs, façades and interiors) and related topics (including urban climate, rainwater management, sustainability, and the cities of the future), attended by Livia Shamir, Director of the Research Department at Stefano Boeri Architetti.
Organised by Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e.V. (BuGG), the event features presentations by top-level speakers with simultaneous German/English translation and excursions to green buildings.
In this context, Livia Shamir presents the studio’s design philosophy, drawing on concrete examples of vertical forestation in buildings, such as the Bosco Verticale in Milan and its variations in social housing in Eindhoven and mixed-use in Utrecht.
Among the other speakers: Dr. Patrick Blanc (Vertical Garden “Mur Végétal” – France), Prof. Manfred Köhler (Germany), Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart (Cradle to Cradle – Germany), Thomas Kraubitz (DGNB-Präsidium – Germany).
