masterplan for the recovery of “tratturi”
presentation

On Wednesday, March 6th, at 9:30 AM in Campodipietra (CB), the presentation of the Masterplan for the recovery of Molise’s “tratturi takes place. The plan is conceived by the collaboration of Technital (group leader), Stefano Boeri Architetti, Cooprogetti, MATE Società Cooperativa, Studiosilva, Architect Luigi Valente, Geoprove, and Nostoi.

The project aims to incentivise and enhance the tourism offer within the framework of the Molise Institutional Development Contract (CIS), with the goal of recovering the “tratturi” – ancient transhumance routes, a practice recognised as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2019 – and integrating them with the historic villages of Molise.

In collaboration with a consortium of 59 Molise municipalities, the masterplan serves as a regeneration and preservation intervention for the existing historical and identity elements. It seeks to establish connections between various historic villages through accessible and recognizable pathways and to transform the “tratturi” into ecological corridors and landscapes of biodiversity. The overarching perspective is to contribute to national urban afforestation efforts by revitalizing the territory through nature.

Key participants in the event include Stefano Boeri (Stefano Boeri Architetti), Francesco Vazzano (MATE Soc. Coop.va), Elisabeth Foroni (Technital S.p.A.), Franco Valente (Studio Valente), Francesco Roberti (President of the Molise Region), Dora Catalano (Superintendent of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape for Molise – MIC), Michele Scasserra (Single CIS Molise Representative), Giuseppe Notartomaso (Mayor of Campodipietra), Letizia Bindi (Unimol), Paolo Di Martino (Scientific Director of the MaB Molise Reserve), Davide Sabato (Coordinator of the CAI Molise Trails Working Group), Giovanni Germano (Coordinator of “Walk, Molise!”), Dina Verrecchia (Director of the Domain Service). The event will be moderated by Architect Luigi Valente.
