On September 21st, the Easyhome Vertical Forest in Huanggang, a project by Stefano Boeri Architects China, was included in Fortune China 2023’s Best Design List along with 49 other international projects from different backgrounds.
The 50 design ideas on the list, whether products, buildings, services, algorithms or public utility projects, all seek to solve the unique problems we are facing at the moment – climate change, land consumption, urban forestation.
The Easyhome Huanggang Vertical Forest complex, located in the city of Huanggang in China’s Hubei province, consists of five towers, two of which are residential (80 m high) designed on the model of the Bosco Verticale in Milan.
In particular, the project defines a new type of green architecture, characterised by an alternation of open balconies and closed loggias that break up the regularity of the façade and create a continuous movement, accentuated by the presence of trees and shrubs that can grow freely in height, following the design of the façade: the two towers host a total of 404 trees, 4620 shrubs and 2408 square metres of perennials, flowers and climbing plants, which contribute to absorbing 22 tons of CO2 and producing 11 tons of oxygen per year.
