shenzhen rehabilitation center

Shenzhen Rehabilitation Center, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti China, has been awarded the Best Mixed-Use Building Award at the first edition of the 2026 CVU China Awards.

The award recognizes projects that promote innovative approaches to vertical urbanism, integrating multiple functions while fostering environmental quality, accessibility, and social inclusion within contemporary cities. This first edition of the CVU China Awards also marks an important transition: CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) has officially rebranded and evolved into CVU – Council on Vertical Urbanism, expanding its focus from tall buildings to the broader challenges and opportunities of contemporary vertical urbanism.

Located in Shenzhen’s Longhua district, the Shenzhen Rehabilitation Center is conceived as a new model for healthcare architecture: an accessible public building integrated into the urban fabric and immersed in nature. The project combines rehabilitation facilities, healthcare services, public spaces and green landscapes, redefining the relationship between care, wellbeing and the city.

Conceived as a place of care and inclusion immersed in greenery, the complex opens a new perspective on healthcare architecture, overcoming the traditional image of rehabilitation facilities and becoming a civic landscape dedicated to wellbeing, interaction and collective life.

The recognition by the CVU China Awards highlights the project’s ability to combine healthcare functions with public and environmental values, promoting a more inclusive and resilient urban model.
