Trudo Vertical Forest finalista a Architizer A+Awards

Trudo Vertical Forest project by Stefano Boeri Architetti, the first example of a vertical forest entirely dedicated to social housing, has been selected as a finalist in the Architizer A+Awards 2024, in the Sustainable Multi-Unit Residential Building category.

From Monday, April 29th to Friday, May 10th, the popular vote officially opens, which will result in the proclamation of the winner at the event organized by Architizer, one of the largest platforms for international architectural dissemination and promotion.

Designed to primarily accommodate low-income users – such as young professionals and students – the Trudo Vertical Forest in Eindhoven houses apartments with controlled rents but of high living quality. The complex vision of “living” coexistence between humans and other species is thus amplified in the project in a dual challenge: the possibility of combining the great challenge of the environmental crisis with the urgent need for affordable housing in contemporary cities.

The Trudo Vertical Forest represents the achievement of a real milestone: by making the Vertical Forest typology accessible to everyone, including tenants with low incomes, the project demonstrates how living in contact with trees and greenery is not an exclusive prerogative, but can indeed become a possible choice for citizens with very different economic backgrounds. The Trudo Vertical Forest succeeds in ensuring high quality, due to the flexibility of internal spaces and their relationship with open spaces, in a building with significantly reduced construction costs. The project not only aims to modify the urban landscape but also seeks to define new housing standards for social housing and respond to environmental and housing issues.
