MUBA, the Children’s Museum of Milan, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, publishes the volume 25 voci x 25 anni (25 voices x 25 years), edited by journalist Chiara Pasqualetti Johnson, in which experts from various fields contribute to describe the museum’s world and philosophy, including Stefano Boeri.

The book is a choral story, and tracing it are, precisely, 25 voices, women and men who have imagined, nurtured the museum, as well as seen it grow, sustained and studied it. From the many testimonies, one word that recurs often is ‘together’ – a term that gives the idea of the harmony that characterizes MUBA’s activities.

Stefano Boeri contributes a text entitled Una casa per il MUBA. La Rotonda della Besana, in which he describes the path of the museum, which was born in 1998, when Soldi!, an interactive exhibition-game for children by MuBa, opened at the Milan Triennale, a still little-known reality in the Milanese cultural scene and in the territory. In 2014, MUBA found a new home, its current location in the spaces of the Rotonda di via Besana, thanks to the will and support of the City of Milan.

“That of MUBA was from the beginning a very innovative idea, even compared to other European spaces. It was an experiment, the beginning of a beautiful story. It would be necessary for spaces of this kind, with coordinated management, to be born in other places as well. Expanding an offer like this to other areas, to the suburbs, coordinating with municipal libraries, with elementary schools and kindergartens can become a great challenge,” says Stefano Boeri.
