In the third issue of the Swiss architecture and design magazine OFF, Tristan Kennedy interviews Stefano Boeri about the genesis and development of the Bosco Verticale project in Milan, ‘The building that started a movement’.

he project consists of two towers, 80 and 112 m high, housing a total of 800 trees, 15,000 perennials and/or ground cover plants and 5,000 shrubs; a vegetation equivalent to that of 30,000 mq of forest and undergrowth, concentrated on 3,000 mq of urban area. A natural presence that brings with it tangible benefits, related to the improvement of the air, the absorption of CO2 and the production of oxygen, the lowering of the temperature in the façade by 30 degrees centigrade and, consequently, a 20-30% energy saving for cooling.
