In the April 7 episode of Modernissimo – Design Conversations, a Sky Arte series produced with the scientific support of Triennale Milano, which presents Italian design as a living, everyday experience, host Paolo Stella interviews Stefano Boeri.

In this episode, titled “The Masters of Italian Design,” the interview takes place at Casa Lana, the original living unit designed by Ettore Sottsass, now reconstructed and preserved within Triennale Milano.

The conversation unfolds as an exploration of design shaped by the figures who built its history: Enzo Mari, Vico Magistretti, Gae Aulenti, Cini Boeri, and Sottsass himself. What was their contribution, and why did the exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” at MoMA in New York (1972) establish the primacy of Italian design and mark the emergence of a new vision of living? The uniqueness of the Italian model arose from an unparalleled intellectual and productive alliance: a fertile interplay between the boldness of a new entrepreneurial class and the genius of designers, resulting in an unrepeatable synthesis capable of transforming artistic utopia into a global cultural and industrial revolution.

In the two previous episodes of the program, Marco Sammicheli, director of the Italian Design Museum at Triennale Milano, and designer Guido Drocco were interviewed.
