Intervista a Stefano Boeri su In Mezz'ora

Within the Rai 3 program “In Mezz’ora,” a Sunday afternoon in-depth analysis show where key themes of the week are examined, journalist Monica Maggioni interviews Stefano Boeri about the challenges facing the cities of the future.

The interview touches on various topics, including design and architecture (with memories of Gaetano Pesce and Italo Rota), focusing on the future of international cities amid real estate crises, the concept of “15-minute cities” – originally conceived by Carlos Moreno and reinterpreted in many projects by Stefano Boeri Architetti as “archipelago cities,” where all services are redistributed and accessible to everyone within a limited spatial radius – sustainability, and social inequalities.

“This is the great challenge of the coming years. We cannot forget that about 10% of the wealthy population of cities produces 5/6 times more carbon dioxide than half of the poorest part of the world.
Ecological transition without urban planning that can redistribute resources across the territory – bringing services, bringing greenery, bringing healthcare services – to the outskirts, to the most vulnerable areas, is not an ecological transition. It will be destined to be an elitist process, and therefore fundamentally fail. The ecological transition can only be a process for everyone, otherwise it will be a battle already lost,” declares Stefano Boeri.
