In the real estate section of Il Sole 24 Ore, an article titled “Nei percorsi sanitari i giardini terapeutici integrano la cura” (“In healthcare pathways, therapeutic gardens complement care”) features the project for the new Policlinico Hospital in Milan, designed by Boeri Studio. The project includes a rooftop garden of over 7,000 sqm, as well as a landscape design that comprises 100 new trees and 3,122 sqm of impermeable surfaces removed.
The article explores the role and benefits of integrating greenery into cities and, above all, into healthcare facilities, where a significant improvement in psychophysical wellbeing has been observed.
The new Ospedale Policlinico thus becomes an innovative and original example of this new relationship between living nature and care. Among the main urban forestation projects planned in Milan, the Policlinico’s rooftop garden gains added value from the chromotherapeutic potential of its landscape, with plant species that change in appearance across the seasons. It also includes a rehabilitation garden, crossed by paths with different levels of difficulty, determined by the various types of paving.
