Intervista a Stefano Boeri in Il Secolo XIX

An interview by Annamaria Coluccia with Stefano Boeri has been published in the daily newspaper Il Secolo XIX. The piece focuses on the masterplan for the Polcevera Park and the redevelopment of the neighborhoods crossed by the future Campasso freight railway line in Genoa.

The article illustrates a unified vision for the regeneration of the Polcevera area—which is currently at a standstill—and proposes a concrete solution to reduce the acoustic impact of rail traffic on residential buildings along the Campasso tracks. The proposal includes new filter-facades featuring stepped greenery, glass and steel loggias, and thermal-break window frames, notably achieving this without the need for expropriations or forced relocations.

The masterplan, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti in collaboration with Metrogramma, Inside Outside, and Studio Laura Gatti, envisions a system of parks with diverse ecologies and sustainable mobility infrastructure. The goal is to overturn the valley’s current image through a symbolic landmark that serves as a manifesto for urban stitching between the two sides of the valley. Overall, the intervention aims to reconstruct—architecturally, urbanistically, and above all, socially—an extremely varied territory: a high-quality rebirth of forms and services, designed primarily for the people who live and work there.
