In the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, an article by Uwe Ebbinghaus analyses a recent trend that sees the exodus of a large part of the German population from large cities outwards, in the direction of eco-sustainable and self-sufficient cities.

In this scenario, Stefano Boeri Architetti‘s Smart Forest City Cancun is cited as one of many examples of smart cities and ‘cities in 15 minutes’.

The Smart Forest City in Cancun is in fact conceived as an energy self-sufficient settlement, at the forefront also in terms of mobility thanks to an exclusively electric and semi-automatic articulated transport system, and can host up to 130,000 inhabitants and 120,000 plants belonging to 350 different species.
