The project of dutch Vertical Forest: Wonderwoods, 90 meters high designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, won the competition for the upgrading of the Jaarbeursboulevard area nearby Utrecht Station. Wonderwoods will host on its facade approximately 10,000 plants of different varieties (360 trees, 9,640 of shrubs and flowers), equivalent to one hectare of forest.
The Wonderwoods Vertical Forest will contribute absorb about 5.4 tons of CO2. On the ground floor of the tower, directly connected to the garden on the sixth floor, there will be the Vertical Forest Hub, a research centre on urban forestation worldwide. An open space where it will be possible to know the technical and botanic solutions chosen for the tower and to follow the progress of other Vertical Forests under construction in the world. This project has been designed to respect and value the dimension of the isolation between Croeselaan and Jaarbeursboulevard and is added to other urban forest projects by Stefano Boeri Architetti.
