Incontro alla Kasa dei Libri con Stefano Boeri

On Thursday 9 March at 6 p.m., the Kasa dei Libri in Milan hosts Stefano Boeri, the protagonist of the meeting on the theme The Calvino of fairy tales and the fantastic in architecture, on the margins of the ongoing exhibition Calvino in Kasa, dedicated to Italo Calvino on the centenary of his birth with the aim of recounting the writer’s life and fundamental role in Italian publishing.

In the meeting, part of the cycle Una Kasa per Calvino (A House for Calvino), to explore the themes dearest to Calvino, from his relationship with architecture to his love for nature and the influence of science and music, texts such as The Invisible Cities or The Baron in the Trees are cited as some of Calvino’s most influential texts on the concept of the city and its ecosystem. Living among plants and trees, in fact, has become one of the objectives of Stefano Boeri Architetti’s design philosophy, inspiring some of the major urban forestation projects developed over the years.

The fairy-tale and allegorical vision of the city and the relationship with nature recounted in The Baron in the Trees, then, also inspired the chapter Lo sguardo dai rami in Stefano Boeri’s text Urbania , published by Editori Laterza and published in 2021.
