Stefano Boeri Animals in the City

On Wednesday, February 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris hosts the public conference Animals in the City, featuring Stefano Boeri.

Part of the Rencontres & Débats programme—dedicated to dialogue between architecture, landscape, art, and contemporary ecological issues—the event brings together architects and designers engaged in redefining the relationship between the built environment and the living world.

Speakers include Stefano Boeri, alongside landscape architect Bas Smets and architect Gabriel Alonso, for an evening of reflection on the role of other species within contemporary cities. Drawing from different disciplinary perspectives, the conference explores the theme of coexistence between humans, animals, and nature in urban contexts, examining design as a political, ecological, and cultural tool.

In his contribution, Stefano Boeri presents the research and design work developed by Stefano Boeri Architetti around urban forestry, biodiversity-oriented architecture, and the integration of living nature into buildings and public space. He also discusses the research developed together with Andrea Branzi: an urban plan envisioning the simultaneous release of 50,000 sacred cows and 30,000 monkeys into the parks and boulevards of Paris—currently on view at Galerie Valois until 28 February.

The event concludes with an open conversation among the speakers, moderated by Béatrice Grenier.
