Wonderwoods has been awarded at the BREEAM Awards 2026 in the Climate Resilience Excellence category.
The recognition highlights the project’s innovative approach to creating a resilient urban environment, where architecture, nature, and public life are brought together as part of a new model of contemporary living.
Located in the heart of Utrecht, Wonderwoods reinterprets the Vertical Forest model through a 104-metre-high mixed-use building. Nature becomes an integral part of the architecture, contributing to a new relationship between the built environment, biodiversity, and the urban landscape. Another distinctive feature of the project is the presence of public functions accessible to citizens, designed to make the Vertical Forest more permeable to urban life and more closely integrated into the city’s fabric.
After achieving BREEAM certification in early 2026, Wonderwoods has now received further recognition at the BREEAM Awards. The award further highlights the project’s approach to climate resilience and its integration of nature into the urban environment. The project serves as a benchmark for future developments in which sustainability is not only visible, but also measurable and structurally embedded.
