Wonderwoods Rietveld Prize 2026

Wonderwoods, the mixed-use project in Utrecht designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and MVSA Architects, has been shortlisted for the Rietveld Prize 2026, Utrecht’s biennial architecture award.

One of nine nominated projects, Wonderwoods is part of the urban regeneration plan for the Beurskwartier, next to Utrecht Central Station. The project combines housing, offices and public functions with an extensive vertical landscape of trees and plants. Alongside the jury-awarded Rietveld Prize, all nine shortlisted projects are eligible for the DUIC Public Award.

The Wonderwoods Vertical Forest reinterprets the Vertical Forest model in a mixed-use context. Following Bosco Verticale in Milan and Trudo Vertical Forest in Eindhoven, the project introduces public functions into the Vertical Forest typology, making it more integrated into the urban fabric and accessible to citizens.

Alongside the Rietveld Prize, all nine nominated projects are eligible for the DUIC Public Award, which returns this year and is decided by public vote. Voting opens on 1 October, with the winner to be announced on 13 November at the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht.
