The canal that connects the Adriatic Sea with Ravenna is a 13-kilometre waterway. The final part – the “docklands” of Ravenna – in close connection with the city’s historical centre and the railway station, is now a case for radical redesign. Due to the harbor’s productive activity expansion, 200,000 additional square metres are going to redensify this part of the city within the next few years, organized around a system of green spaces and connected by a substantial environmental path. A system of water refinement will contribute to the eligibility of the entire water system of the canal, bringing back to life the docklands unique potentiality for free time activities and other service, work and commercial functions.
