Stefano Boeri describes the Vertical Forest as a model of sustainable residential building, a project of metropolitan reforestation that contributes to the regeneration of the environment and urban biodiversity. It is a model of vertical densification of nature within the city, which works in relation to the policies of reforestation and naturalization of the great urban and metropolitan boundaries. The Vertical Forest Vegetable System helps in creating a special microclimate, produces moisture and oxygen, absorbs CO2 particles and thin powders. Biological Wildlife Habitats increase biodiversity, helping to create an urban ecosystem. The different types of vegetation create a vertical environment that can also be colonized by birds and insects. Stefano Boeri Architetti is working on this kind of projects all over the world, including Lausanne in Switzerland, Utrecht in the Netherlands, Sao Paulo in Brazil and Tirana in Albania.
