bosco verticale su tg1

On Sunday, 2 April, the 8 p.m. Tg1 news broadcasts a report dedicated to the Bosco Verticale and its image, which has now become “a pop icon” recognised worldwide.

From songs to Lego models to crossword puzzles and comic strips, the report brings together the major influences of the building in Milan outside the architectural sphere alone, emphasising how the design of the Bosco Verticale has transcended mere architectural design, becoming the image and symbol of a new relationship between the city and nature.

The Bosco Verticale was the first prototype of a new idea of architecture, the first building in which the relationship with living nature was considered a fundamental design criterion. In fact, the two towers of Porta Nuova, 80 and 112 m high, house a total of 800 trees, 15,000 perennial and/or ground cover plants and 5,000 shrubs. A vegetation equivalent to that of 30,000 square metres of forest and undergrowth, concentrated on 3,000 square metres of urban area.
The Bosco Verticale represents one of the possible strategies of urban forestation, through which it is possible to bring thousands of trees and plants into the heart of a built city and multiply the presence of greenery in urban contexts.
At the same time, the Bosco Verticale is not a point of arrival, but a starting point; it is a first example, a case study, with the opportunity to understand, study and, consequently, improve various aspects of this new architectural typology.
