Published by AvEditions, the book Sustainable Architecture and Design 2025/2026 by Andrea Herold and Tina Krammer presents the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest project by Stefano Boeri Architetti, which is included in the Architecture and Interior Architecture category.
The book is divided into six categories and presents 40 international projects and their most innovative architectural and construction solutions, contributing to the development of a new building culture. It offers a global overview that highlights trends, approaches, and design strategies that can address the challenges of our time, particularly with regard to sustainability and the responsible transformation of the built environment.
The focus is on the central themes of contemporary development: the conscious use of resources; the application of circular processes; the promotion of biodiversity; and the integration of technological innovation and environmental awareness.
Stefano Boeri Architetti’s Wonderwoods Vertical Forest project is a 104-metre tower that reinterprets the vertical forest model with a strong presence of trees and plants in a mixed-use context.
Culturally, the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest is a novel addition to contemporary European architecture, representing an important experiment in the demineralisation of vertical surfaces and a new urban landmark for Utrecht thanks to its strategic city centre location and high functional mix geared towards inclusion.
