On Wednesday, 26 November 2025, the conference ‘Social Housing in Genoa and Liguria: Prospects and Development Models‘, organised by the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Genoa, will be held, featuring Stefano Boeri.
Taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Sala Quadrivium – Main Hall (Piazza Santa Marta, 2), the conference will explore the topic of social housing and its prospects for development in Genoa and Liguria. It will compare national and international experiences, and analyse strategies, models and public policies dedicated to social housing.
Through contributions from design studios, public bodies and institutions, the meeting aims to facilitate shared reflections on the roles of architecture and planning in creating inclusive and sustainable communities.
Stefano Boeri will participate in the panel ‘Good Practices in Social Housing in Italy and Abroad’, recounting the experience of the Trudo Vertical Forest project, which was the first time that the Vertical Forest model was applied to social housing.
Designed primarily to accommodate low-income residents, the Eindhoven tower houses apartments with controlled rents and high living standards. The project thus amplifies the complex vision of ‘coexistence’ between humans and other species, combining the urgent need for affordable housing in contemporary cities with the great challenge of the environmental crisis.
Joining Boeri on the panel are Alfonso Femia (Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia) and Enrico Vianello (TAMassociati).
