To mark Milan Green Week 2025, the ELABORATOR project is holding an event on Sunday 21 September to promote urban accessibility and social inclusion. Funded by the European Union’s Horizon programme, the project focuses on designing inclusive, safe, accessible and sustainable urban mobility. The event will feature activities designed to encourage safer and more sustainable mobility for all.
Combining technology and social participation, the project, which involves the Research Department of Stefano Boeri Architetti, aims to improve the mobility of people with visual impairments and actively involve vulnerable groups.
The event comprises two parts: first, smart sensors will be installed along pedestrian routes and at crossings to improve mobility for people with visual impairments; then, an inclusive walk will be held to actively engage vulnerable groups.
ELABORATOR stands for ‘The European Living Lab on designing sustainable urban mobility towards climate neutral cities’. The project takes a holistic approach to planning, designing, implementing and deploying specific innovations and interventions for safe, inclusive and sustainable urban mobility. These interventions consist of smart control tools, the redesign of spaces and their dynamic allocation, shared services, and the integration of active and green modes of transport.
