The Milano Today website has published an article on Stefano Boeri Architetti’s win of the competition sponsored by LOCO Alliance to redevelop a 73,600-square-meter area in Tbilisi.
The Loco Park project interweaves residences and community spaces through a continuous landscape, one that reconnects the site with the city and returns it to everyday life. Nine buildings are set within a sequence of open spaces, from the sports forest to the diffuse park, from the linear boulevard to the shared gardens, offering places for movement, rest, and encounter. The continuity of these spaces promotes accessibility and pedestrian use, extending connections toward the surrounding neighborhoods.
The site’s industrial heritage, once a locomotive factory, becomes part of the neighborhood’s future identity. The materiality of the architecture and the use of brick, which is also tied to local building tradition, translate the productive memory of the place into a contemporary language.
