Stefano Boeri was interviewed by Radio Cina Internazionale, discussing his vision for sustainable cities, urban forestry and the role of architecture in addressing the environmental challenges of contemporary cities.
The conversation started with the experience of the Bosco Verticale in Milan, and the importance of trees and biodiversity as integral elements of urban architecture. The interview also explored the development of the Vertical Forest model in China and around the world, from completed projects to new interventions currently under construction.
Among the projects discussed was the Shenzhen Rehabilitation Center, a public healthcare complex conceived as an ecological hill immersed in greenery. The project proposes a new model of rehabilitation architecture in which nature, accessibility and wellbeing become central elements.
The interview also touched on the enhancement interventions on the southern ambulatories of the Colosseum in Rome, an intervention aimed at preserving and enhancing the archaeological heritage while improving the visitor experience and accessibility of these historic spaces.
Through these experiences, Stefano Boeri reflects on the role of architecture in the ecological transition, highlighting the importance of biodiversity, technological innovation and international exchange between Italy and China in shaping more sustainable and inclusive cities.
