The newspaper Il Giorno published an article dedicated to the urban transformations taking place in the city of Monza, presenting, among others, the project for the redevelopment of Aler’s public housing by the U.O.G. Monza Brianza, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, aimed at improving residents’ living quality through the architectural and energy regeneration of two buildings on Via Baradello, in the heart of Monza’s industrial district.

Energy efficiency, energy retrofitting, and architectural quality are the key words behind the intervention on the Aler buildings at Via Baradello 6 and 12, which, thanks to funds allocated by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the energy component and to Stefano Boeri Architetti’s vision, gain a distinctive identity and a unique living standard for public housing. The project aims to restore dignity to living spaces, moving toward quality welfare that encompasses environmental and economic sustainability, and above all, quality of life: joint actions on public residential housing capable of triggering pathways of urban and social regeneration.

Specifically, the intervention, which covers a total area of 8,270 sq m, initially involves reconnecting the two buildings, which are currently characterized by a divided shared space that creates a break between the two communities. The creation of shared green areas, connected by pedestrian paths and tree-lined avenues, overcomes this division, creating an accessible, shared environment for residents while still maintaining a distinct and clear identity for each of the two buildings.
