On Wednesday, November 12, an event organized by Building Office Buildings takes place in Utrecht, featuring a site visit and presentation of the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest project by Francesca Cesa Bianchi, Partner at Stefano Boeri Architetti.
The project introduces the concept of the Vertical Forest to the Netherlands for the very first time, setting a new benchmark for sustainability in office building design. Conceived by Stefano Boeri Architetti, the complex places strong emphasis on well-being, environmental performance, and user experience.
Specifically, the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti is a 104-meter tower that reinterprets the Vertical Forest model with a mixed-use approach. Following Milan’s Bosco Verticale and Eindhoven’s Trudo Vertical Forest (social housing), Wonderwoods becomes the first Vertical Forest in the world to include public spaces open to citizens, with the goal of making this innovative architectural typology increasingly integrated into the urban fabric and accessible to all.
Officially inaugurated in early 2025, the building will host around 200 apartments of various types designed for a diverse range of residents, along with retail spaces, sports and leisure areas, and restaurants. Its lush greenery features 360 trees and 50,000 plants from 30 native species, equivalent to the vegetation of one hectare of forest.
