Published by G&S&, the book WONDERWOODS documents the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest project, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti in the heart of Utrecht.
Wonderwoods Vertical Forest is a 104-metre tower that reinterprets the vertical forest model, characterised by a strong presence of trees and plants, in a mixed-use key: after Trudo Vertical Forest (in social housing) in Eindhoven, Wonderwoods is the first vertical forest in the world characterised by the presence of functions open to citizens, with the aim of making this innovative architectural typology increasingly integrated into the urban fabric and accessible to all.
The building, which opened in early 2025, houses around 200 apartments of various types designed for a diverse range of users, along with commercial activities, sports and leisure areas, and dining spaces.
The book traces the development of the project from its early stages to its completion, documenting the architectural choices, technical solutions and challenges faced along the way by the project team led by Francesca Cesa Bianchi (Partner in charge) and Paolo Russo (Project Leader). Through texts, images, drawings and testimonials, the volume explores the creative, technical and cultural process that led to the creation of a new model of coexistence between city and nature.
