Il Sole 24 Ore has published an article titled Under the Sun of Cagliari: Flavours, History, and New Architecture, dedicated to the Sardinian city, in which it mentions the project by Stefano Boeri Architetti A Green Promenade for the Cagliari Waterfront.
“Completing Cagliari’s new look is the redevelopment of the waterfront designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, featuring a sea-facing square, a sports rambla, relaxation areas, and a promenade with 200 additional trees and nearly 6,000 square meters of green space,” writes journalist Sara Magro, focusing on the city’s growing commitment to openness, integration, and sustainability.
The project A Green Promenade for the Cagliari Waterfront—submitted by the temporary consortium composed of MATE Società Cooperativa, Stefano Boeri Architetti, StudioSilva, S.T.P., MIC-HUB, and archaeologist Demis Massimiliano Murgia, following their winning of the competition for the redefinition of Cagliari’s waterfront—includes the redevelopment of Via Roma’s promenade, interventions along the Port front, and the redesign of Piazza Matteotti.
The project specifically aims to enhance the mixité of the area, fostering social inclusion and community cohesion by creating new hubs for collective life, also in anticipation of future development toward the port.
