“Trudo Vertical Forest – a journey into the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest” is the documentary film that tells the story of the creation of the first Vertical Forest for social housing, located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The project was designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and inaugurated on September 30, 2021.
The documentary, produced by The Blink Fish (directed by Stefano Santamato and produced by Paolo Soravia), explores – through in-depth features and interviews with the key figures involved – the development of a building that has now become a new architectural icon in Eindhoven’s skyline.
The documentary has also won “Best Cinematography” and “Best Message” at Top Indie Film Awards – Spring 2024.
Designed primarily to accommodate low-income residents – such as young professionals and students – the Eindhoven tower offers apartments with affordable rents but high living quality. The complex vision of “residential” coexistence between humans and other species is amplified in this project, taking on a dual challenge: bringing together the global fight against the environmental crisis with the urgent need for affordable housing in contemporary cities.
