The White Paper on Urban Greenery has been published: GREENERY IN THE CHANGING CITY, a collection of 72 contributions, including one from the Research Department of Stefano Boeri Architetti.
The new Focus 24/25 of the White Paper on Urban Greenery, presented on May 20–21, 2025, at Palazzo della Valle in Rome, addresses the themes of change—across its many forms—ranging from institutional strategies to design, from governance to health, from technical management to culture and communication. The aim is to identify priority actions, guide future choices, and build a shared vision of the city of tomorrow.
In this context, the Research Department of Stefano Boeri Architetti has published “THE ROLE OF PLANNING AND DESIGN IN ENSURING EQUITABLE ACCESS TO URBAN FORESTS”, an analysis of tools, policies, and actions to reduce environmental inequalities.
From the article’s abstract:
“Promoting equitable access to green spaces, especially for disadvantaged communities, is becoming increasingly crucial due to growing disparities and the health implications linked to climate change. Low-income communities and the most vulnerable groups of citizens often live in urban areas with limited access to green spaces, making them more exposed to the negative effects of urban heat islands and poor air quality. It is essential to ensure that these groups have equal opportunities to benefit from the positive effects of green spaces, including stress reduction, improved mental and physical health, and greater social cohesion.”
