Il Saggiatore has published the book One Health, Rethinking the Planet’s Emergencies, edited by Vittorio Lingiardi and Isabella Saggio, featuring a contribution by Stefano Boeri.
The One Health approach, formalized by the WHO in 2017, is based on the integration of multiple disciplines, overcoming the fragmentation of knowledge, and recognizing that human, animal, and ecosystem health are inextricably linked.
This volume introduces readers to the One Health paradigm through the insights of scholars, scientists, and intellectuals: from David Quammen’s exploration of the connections between deforestation, intensive farming, and epidemics, to Paolo Giordano’s reflections on the wounds that conflicts inflict on bodies, cities, and ecosystems, and Giovanna Melandri’s call to transform the economy, business, and finance into generative agents of value.
In this context, Stefano Boeri contributes a chapter on the urgent need to redesign urban spaces to address both global warming and social inequality—also the main theme of the 24th International Exhibition of the Triennale Milano.
Additional contributions come from: Mattia Crespi, Simonetta Fraschetti, Paolo Giordano, Massimo Labra, Andrea Lenzi, Vittorio Lingiardi, Marianna Liotti, Giovanna Melandri, Massimo Mercati, Daniela Minerva, Barbara Pezzini, Telmo Pievani, David Quammen, Isabella Saggio, Francesco Vaccarino, and Giovanna Zucconi.
