In the ‘Lombardy‘ episode of the Tucci in Italy series, Stanley Tucci visits the Vertical Forest in Milan.

The series follows Tucci as he travels through Italy’s beautiful landscapes, exploring the deep connections between food, culture, and history. He meets locals, chefs, and artisans along the way.

During his time in Milan, the Oscar-nominated, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor visited the Vertical Forest, the project by Boeri Studio which is essentially ‘tree-sized’ architecture, where humans are discreet guests and the focus is on integration with living nature in all its forms, rather than sustainability.

The Vertical Forest in Milan is a model of green residential building and a metropolitan reforestation project that contributes to environmental regeneration and urban biodiversity without expanding the city’s footprint. It is a prototype for the vertical densification of nature within an urban context and works in synergy with urban forestation policies and the implementation of nature-based solutions.

With vegetation equivalent to about five hectares of forest concentrated on an area of just 1,000 square metres, the environmental benefits are manifold: absorption of fine dust and CO₂, production of oxygen, optimisation of water management, reduction of noise pollution, and improvement of quality of life for people, plants and animals.
