The Spanish website Nan Arquitectura has published an interview by Beatriz Ruiz Corvillo with Stefano Boeri, titled “Si queremos abordar el cambio climático, no podemos dejar de considerar la necesidad de reintroducir la biodiversidad” (“If we want to tackle climate change, we cannot ignore the need to reintroduce biodiversity”).
The article explores the inspirations and philosophy behind the green projects developed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, with a particular focus on the Bosco Verticale in Milan, designed by Boeri Studio in 2014.
The interview then shifts to some of Stefano Boeri’s personal experiences, such as the Multiplicity group, the Triennale di Milano, and the Forestami project.
“We will never overcome global warming if we don’t take inequalities into account. And we will never overcome inequality if we don’t pay attention to the ecological transition. The two issues are deeply interconnected.
It’s often said that the world’s poorest countries are the least responsible for CO₂ emissions, yet they are the main victims of the disaster caused by global warming. Conversely, the richest countries are the most responsible for emissions and the least affected by their consequences. That is just one of the many visible inequalities.
I believe that for a young architect, it’s very important to understand how these two issues — perhaps together with artificial intelligence, which represents the third major challenge — can and should be integrated in some way,”
says Stefano Boeri.
