Le Monde has published an article by Hubert Prolongeau entitled 48 Heures à Milan, which includes the Vertical Forest, designed by Boeri Studio in the Porta Nuova district.

The article proposes a tourist itinerary of the city of Milan, on the occasion of the reopening of the Paris-Milan railway line, which has been blocked by a landslide since 27 August 2023.

The Isola district is also included, with its Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, La Scala, Pinacoteca di Brera, Palazzo Citterio, church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and Fondazione Luigi Rovati. Of particular note is the Vertical Forest, built in 2014 and since then a symbol of new architecture of biodiversity, which no longer places man alone at the centre, but the relationship between man and other living species.

The first case built, in Milan in the Porta Nuova area, is made up of two towers, 80 and 112 m high, housing a total of 800 trees (480 first and second size trees, 300 smaller ones, 15,000 perennials and/or ground cover plants and 5,000 shrubs). The vegetation is equivalent to that of 30,000 square metres of forest and undergrowth, concentrated on 3,000 square metres of urban area. The project is also a means of limiting urban expansion driven by the pursuit of green space (each tower is equivalent to approximately 50,000 square metres of single-family residential development).
