On Thursday, 12 June 2025, the study day ‘Quadri per Giancarlo De Carlo‘ will take place in Genoa. Organised by the Department of Architecture and Design at the University of Genoa, it will feature Stefano Boeri.
This event is dedicated to Giancarlo De Carlo, who was a naval officer, architect, engineer, professor, member of Team 10, founder of the International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design (ILUAD) and editor of the magazines Spazio e Società and Struttura e forma urbana. He was also the author of numerous realised plans and projects, as well as architectural proposals, books and writings.
Taking place in the University of Genoa’s Benvenuto Hall, the day is divided into two sessions and features architects, professors and scholars. It is a journey through the urban realities and minds of the last century, exploring international and national movements in relation to Giancarlo De Carlo’s interpretation of architecture as a process that only acquires meaning when considered in the context of the social relations of the community in which it plays a role. The event is organised by Alberto Bertagna, Elisabetta Canepa and Valter Scelsi.
Stefano Boeri will speak during the second session, which is scheduled to start at 15:00. He will be joined by Adriano Magliocco, Simona Gabrielli, Monica Mazzolani and Vittorio Grattarola. Elisabetta Canepa will moderate.
There will be opening speeches by Adriano Magliocco and Simona Gabrielli.
