The documentary Trudo Vertical Forest – A Journey into the World’s First Social Housing Vertical Forest, directed by Stefano Santamato, will be screened as part of the Film and Architecture Festival, an international festival dedicated to the relationship between architecture and film. The screening will take place at Kino Edison in Prague on 2 October 2026 at 18:30.
Produced by The Blink Fish, the film follows the story of Trudo Vertical Forest, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti in Eindhoven and completed in 2021. The project is the first Vertical Forest specifically conceived for social housing, extending the Vertical Forest model beyond the context of private residential development and exploring its potential as an accessible and inclusive form of urban architecture.
The documentary explores the architectural and technological challenges involved in bringing the Vertical Forest concept into the field of social housing. The project combines 125 social housing apartments with 135 trees and approximately 8,500 shrubs and plants, creating a new relationship between residential life and nature in the city.
Through interviews with the architects, clients and other protagonists of the project, the documentary retraces the development of Trudo Vertical Forest, from its conception and construction to its role within the evolving urban landscape of Eindhoven.
