The Shenzhen Rehabilitation Center, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti China, wins the Global Grand Award along with two additional honors — the Innovative Creativity Award and the Sustainability Leadership Award — at the International Sustainable Design Awards 2025 (ISDA).
The ISDA 2025 awards are promoted by the Hong Kong Arts and Sustainable Design Association (HKASD).
The ISDA is an international award program that celebrates excellence in sustainable design, supported by more than 50 global organizations and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Shenzhen Rehabilitation Center is a fully accessible public building integrated into the urban fabric of the Longhua District. The project develops pioneering concepts of social inclusion and cohesion in relation to both physical and cognitive disabilities.
Adjacent to an urban park and directly connected to the city’s soft mobility network, the complex is conceived as an ecological hill opening toward the natural landscape. A place of healing and inclusion immersed in greenery, its accessibility and spatial comfort form the foundation of a design that challenges conventional approaches to rehabilitation. The project goes beyond the traditional notion of long-term patient care facilities, becoming a true space for interaction and wellbeing in close contact with nature.
