Paris Match, the French weekly magazine, features an interview by Romain Clergeat with Stefano Boeri in its “Heroes of the Planet” section, titled Stefano Boeri: Bâtisseur de nature.

The article focuses on and presents the main green projects of the Stefano Boeri Architetti studio, starting with the Bosco Verticale, inaugurated in Milan in 2014, and tracing its international iterations.

From the article’s opening:

Imagine towers with living façades, adorned with a profusion of trees and plants. A way to give new breath to suffocated cities. Since his first project in Milan eleven years ago, this leading figure in architecture has adapted his concept all over the world, from the Netherlands to China. As global warming has already surpassed the 1.5°C limit set by the 2015 Paris Agreement, his “vertical forests” offer coolness, release oxygen, capture pollution… and enchant birds. A paradise this visionary seeks to make accessible to all, regardless of their economic means.

“The Bosco Verticale remains for us a constant subject of study. We regularly visit the site to observe the evolution of the trees, the branches, the plants. We try to understand their relationship with insects and birds, and we analyze the reactions of the residents. We have learned a great deal from this experience. Honestly, the success was unpredictable. The coexistence between humans, trees, and birds has turned out to be fantastic. We have created an ecosystem of 21,000 plants over 2,000 square meters—a vertical forest that contributes to reducing pollution,” says Stefano Boeri.
