In the context of Design Week 2023 in Milan, Sky TG24<\/strong> dedicates an article to some of the city’s ‘livable’ masterpieces, mentioning the Bosco Verticale<\/strong><\/a> in Milan, designed by Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca, Giovanni La Varra) in the Porta Nuova area.<\/p>\n

The article, which selects ’10 signature houses’, opens with the Bosco Verticale<\/strong>, “a house for trees that also houses humans and birds”, which is home to a total of 800 trees (480 first and second size trees, 300 smaller ones), 15,000 perennials and\/or ground cover plants and 5,000 shrubs. A vegetation equivalent to that of 30,000 square metres of forest and undergrowth, concentrated on 3,000 square metres of urban area.<\/p>\n

In the various seasons, the variations in the colour and shape of the vegetal structure generate a great iridescent landmark, strongly recognisable even from a distance: a characteristic that has generated the image of the Bosco Verticale as the new symbol of Milan in just a few years. This principle of variation also acts in relation to the different treatments on the sides of the towers and on the various floors, where the choice and distribution of the essences reflect both aesthetic and functional criteria to adapt to the orientations and heights of the fa\u00e7ades. The result of three years of studies conducted together with a group of botanists and ethologists, the development of the plant component preceded the building life of the complex itself. Starting in the summer of 2010, the plants destined to be planted on the towers were in fact pre-cultivated in a special botanical ‘nursery’ – set up at the Peverelli nursery, near Como – in order to accustom them to living in conditions similar to the final ones.<\/p>\n
